The State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of
Georgia Aleksi Petriashvili met on Monday with the Vice President of the
Atlantic Council of the United States Damon Wilson. The sides discussed
the prospects of Georgia's integration into NATO, plans for future
cooperation, issues related to security and the democratic process, the
Office of the State Minister informed.
The meeting on the prospects of integration into NATO was very fruitful, Petriashvili told reporters after the meeting.
"The meeting with the representative of such an influential organization is very important because together we discussed the plans of the Georgian Government on accession to NATO. It is important to have as many of those active and infl
uential supporters in the
implementation of our objectives," Petriashvili said.
The Vice-President of the Atlantic Council Damon Wilson reiterated support of the Atlantic Council and expressed his readiness to continue cooperation with Georgia.
"The minister and I talked about the future of Georgia, the prospect of European integration. I'm glad I can see the progress achieved by Georgia as a result of consultations with the alliance, and that the country develops the national annual program. I am optimistic about the relations between Georgia and NATO," Wilson said.
