Georgian prime minister initiates intergovernmental consultations on tariff policy of Europe-Asia corridor

Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili spoke at the annual Davos forum. Ivanishvili spoke about the benefits of the energy sector, economic growth and regional integration.

"Central Asia is one of the most significant regions in the world on the potential growth and development. Historically, this region served as a bridge between Europe and Asia, as in the trade and transport role. Based on the potential of Central Asia, many countries in Europe and Asia are interested in the relationship with the region, " Ivanishvili said.

The Prime Minister noted that Georgia has an important connecting role with the countries of Central Asia for Europe, and it is not only the connection of two markets, but also communication, transportation, trade, development of technology.

"In addition to these interests we can add pipelines that pass through the territory of Georgia and are part of the energy security of Europe," he said.

According to Ivanishvili, Georgia, with a presence of sea, rail and road network, is a natural extension of the transit corridor in Central Asia, connecting the European and Asian markets.

"For the development of a South Caucasian and Central Asian transit corridor should be agreed tariff policy for all Parties," he said.

Georgian Prime Minister took the initiative to give more regular meetings at the intergovernmental level, as the constant exchange of information and harmonization of procedures will solve all problems.
