TBILISI, DFWatch — Georgia’s chief prosecutor says he has “material” which is even more violent and shocking than videos leaked two weeks before the parliamentary election last year, which set off a tidal wave of demonstrations.
Chief Prosecutor Archil Kbilashvili on Sunday appeared on Rustavi 2, a TV channel which favors President Mikheil Saakashvili. He said the country has seen the use of brooms for violence, and the blackmailing of sexual minorities, but the Prosecutor’s Office has “information and material” which is even hard to imagine, avoiding to directly answer whether the “material” includes videos.
However, he said he cannot prove this by releasing the “material” right know.
“Imagine a prisoner who is forced to watch his family member being raped, or imagine a person who is buried in the ground up to his throat and the one who buries him is satisfying his natural needs over his head,” Kbilashvili said, adding that there are investigations launched in each case.
The investigation has more than 80 video clips regarding blackmailing of sexual minorities.
Kbilashvili says a victim complained to the Prosecutor’s Office, which then launched an investigation. This victim received a letter and a video clip on e-mail, he said. They demanded money from him, otherwise they would publish the video.
